Solar and fartbot: user guide
Written 24 October 2026.
What it is
Dudz Solar tracks a home solar system with a battery: live power every 5 minutes and a daily total for every day since 6 June 2026. You can see it two ways: the website at solar.dudz.org, and the bot fartbot in the IRC channel ##aussies on Rizon.
The website is plain and factual. fartbot gives the same numbers with heavy toilet humour, posts a short report every evening, and keeps a running score against elfabot, another solar bot in the channel.
The website
Open https://solar.dudz.org/ on a phone or computer. The live tiles refresh every minute and the rest every 5 minutes, so you can leave it open. It follows your device's light or dark mode.
| Section | What it shows | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| Live tiles | Solar now (kW), house load, battery % and kWh stored, grid import or export, today's kWh and its rank | Watch; a red label means the readings are over 15 minutes old |
| Day chart | Solar, house, export, import (kW) and battery % across one day, every 5 minutes | Step with the arrows, pick a date, or press Today |
| Daily yield | A bar per day, shaded by how good the day was, with a 7-day average line | Choose 30 days, 90 days, 1 year or All; click a bar to open that day |
| Monthly totals | Solar, exported and from-grid kWh per month | Hover a bar for the day count and daily average |
| Calendar | Every day as a square, darker for more solar | Click a square to open that day |
| Records | Best and worst day, most exported, most from grid, peak solar and house load, longest above-average run, lifetime totals | Click a date to open that day |
| Search days | A table of every day | Filter by dates, month, weekday and min/max kWh of any field; sort by any column; Top 10 and Bottom 10 buttons |
Detailed 5-minute readings start on 24 October 2026. Earlier days have daily totals only, so their day chart is empty.
IRC commands
Type these in ##aussies. Every command also works with a space, so !dudz best is the same as !dudzbest, and !dudz on its own shows the list. fartbot answers each channel at most once every 10 seconds; anything typed sooner is ignored.

Searching the history
!dudzday accepts dates in Australian order, day first:
| You type | Means |
|---|---|
2026-10-11 |
11 October 2026 |
11/10 or 11/10/26 |
11 October (this year if no year) |
11 oct or oct 11 |
11 October |
today, yesterday |
As written |
-3 |
!dudzmonth takes oct, 2026-09, last (last month) or nothing (this month). A month name later than the current month means last year's.
!dudzsearch takes any mix of these filters; a day must match all of them. It shows the count and up to 8 days.
| Filter | Matches | Example |
|---|---|---|
>N, <N, >=N, <=N, =N |
Solar kWh compared with N | >45, <10 |
field>N |
Another figure: export, grid (bought from the grid), charge, discharge (battery) |
export>20, grid>3 |
YYYY or YYYY-MM |
That year or month | 2026-07 |
| A month name | That month in any year | jun |
Results sort by the first figure you filtered on: highest first, or lowest first when that filter is <. Today never appears in searches or the worst list, because its total is still growing.
Daily Dump Report and the elf competition
At 8:30pm (Sydney time) fartbot posts one report in ##aussies, once a day. It always has the day's line; the others appear only when they apply:
| Line | When |
|---|---|
| Daily Dump Report: today's kWh, rank, grade, exported and bought | Every day |
| NEW ALL-TIME RECORD or NEW ALL-TIME LOW | Today beat the best or worst day (once 7 days are logged) |
| Lifetime solar passed another 1,000 kWh | When it crosses |
| Days in the logbook | At 100, 200, 365, 500, 730, 1000, 1500 and 2000 days |
| Last 7 days | Sundays |
| The month | Last day of each month |
| Dudz vs Elf | When someone typed .elfpower that day |
The elf competition. elfabot answers .elfpower with its owner's solar figures. Whenever anyone types .elfpower, fartbot quietly saves elfabot's reply together with Dudz's own figures at that same moment, so the two are compared at the same time of day. It never answers .elfpower itself.
!dudzvs shows the latest comparison and the scoreboard:
๐ฅ Dudz vs Elf (when berg asked, 15:38 24 Oct): solar 6.16 vs 4.21 kW, Dudz is out-gassing the elf by 1.95 kW ๐จ | today 39.3 vs 18.6 kWh, the elf's panels are pinching a loaf | scoreboard: Dudz 3, Elf 1 over 4 days
Each day with a capture scores one point, decided by the last .elfpower that day: whoever had more kWh so far wins it. Days nobody asks are not scored, so the more people type .elfpower, the better the contest.
Other fartbot commands
These work in the channel or in a private message to fartbot.
| Command | Does | Limit |
|---|---|---|
!dial |
Dials a random Stargate address: six constellations, then Earth, "chevron seven locked!" | None |
!gate |
Draws the Stargate in ASCII art, about 35 lines | Once a minute per channel or person |
!help |
Lists the Stargate commands | None |
!luanti |
The Luanti game server "Chevron Seven Mined" at luanti.dudz.org:30000: version, game, uptime, and who is playing | Once every 15 seconds |
To join the game, open luanti.dudz.org. It has the address and port, step-by-step install help for Android (F-Droid or a direct download), Windows, Mac and Linux, plus who's playing, screenshots of the spawn island, player stats and recent activity. !luanti links there too.
Privacy and fair use
What is never shown. Neither the website nor fartbot shows the home's street address, the inverter's serial number or the account details; the collector never even asks FoxESS for them. The public figures are power, energy, battery and grid numbers only.
What fartbot logs. fartbot keeps a searchable log of everything said in ##aussies: messages, actions, joins, parts, quits, nick changes and topics, with the time and nick. Only the bot's owner can search it, privately. Private messages to fartbot are not logged.
What the website logs. Like most sites, it records each visitor's IP address, browser and the pages fetched. The owner uses this to see who viewed the page; ordinary server logs are kept about 14 days.
Bots are not welcome. The site tells search engines and AI crawlers not to index it. Clients that scan for weaknesses, use scanning tools, guess lots of URLs or follow a hidden trap link are blocked from the website automatically for a day, longer for repeat offenders. Normal browsers are never affected, and email is never blocked.
Fair use in the channel. Each command has a short cooldown (10 seconds for the solar commands, 15 for !luanti, 60 for !gate), and the evening report is one post a day, so fartbot can't flood the channel.
FAQ and glossary
kW or kWh? kW is power right now (how fast energy is flowing). kWh is energy over time: 1 kW for an hour is 1 kWh. Live readings are kW; daily totals are kWh.
Why does today's total differ slightly between places? Live readings update every 5 minutes, but daily totals update at 1 and 31 minutes past each hour. The final figure for a day settles just after midnight.
Why does it say "readings N min old"? The inverter's cloud service hasn't answered for over 15 minutes. The numbers shown are the last good ones.
Why is solar shown at night? The "solar" daily total counts all inverter output, including battery power used overnight, so it is never quite zero.
Why does fartbot ignore me? Another solar command ran in the channel within the last 10 seconds. Wait a moment and try again.
The grade ladder. fartbot grades a day by where it ranks among all logged days:
| Rank among all days | Grade (one of several wordings) |
|---|---|
| Top 5% | LEGENDARY thunder from down under |
| Top 20% | a proper trouser-ripper |
| Top 40% | a solid, satisfying number two |
| Middle | a respectable air biscuit |
| Bottom 40% | a timid little squeaker |
| Bottom 20% | a sad wet fart |
| Bottom 5% | a total brown-out, barely a skid mark |
Glossary of fartbot terms.
